Use a public bike for a seaside ride, rent a kayak almost in central Gdańsk, or put an older child on a windsurfing board with an instructor in Sopot.
MEVO covers the wider Gdańsk–Gdynia–Sopot metropolis. Find a bike in the app, scan the QR code and return it to a permitted station.

MEVO is not a family cargo-bike system. Only one person may ride each bike. MEVO's minor-user rules cover ages 14–17 and require guardian consent plus a bicycle card.
App-rented electric scooters are common around the Tri-City. Operator brands and prices can change, so use the app shown on the scooter rather than an old travel article.
In summer 2026 Gdańsk again introduced no-ride zones in parts of the historic centre. Operators technically block entry into the designated areas.
Since March 2026, children under 13 may not ride an e-scooter on public roads. Riders under 16 must wear a helmet. Rental operators may set an even higher minimum age.
This is a proper Gdańsk attraction, not just sport: from water level the Crane, Granary Island and Ołowianka look completely different.
The city-run Gdańsk Sports Centre marina rents 1- and 2-person kayaks, plus pedal boats, SUP boards and rowing boats. Safety equipment is included.
Visit Gdańsk promotes guided Motława kayaking. One established central operator sets age 12+ for standard public tours; families with younger experienced children are asked to contact them first.
A genuine Baltic activity for an older child, not only for experienced adults.
Akademia Żeglarstwa Prestige offers a 1.5-hour beginner lesson for children aged at least 6 and weighing at least 25 kg. Board, sail, life jacket and wetsuit are included.
Private lessons are available for adults and children. Experienced windsurfers can also rent equipment without a lesson.
Active attractions are one place where “family-friendly” is too broad.
Skip shared scooters and windsurfing. For water, choose beach play, a boat trip or ask Żabi Kruk for the easiest adult-with-child option.
Windsurfing becomes interesting from 6 years / 25 kg. Kayaking can work with a capable adult in suitable conditions.
Kayaking and windsurfing are strong options. Shared scooters remain legally restricted until 13 and operator rules can be stricter.
MEVO becomes possible for minors with guardian consent and a bicycle card, making active transport much more useful for the family.
For airport transfers, luggage, tired children or destinations away from the SKM line, app taxis are often the easiest door-to-door option.
Both are widely usable around Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia. Compare the live app price and pickup time; for city-to-city journeys, also compare with SKM because the train avoids road traffic.
Not legally in a licensed taxi in Poland. The taxi exception also applies to normal Uber/Bolt taxi rides — but that does not make travelling without a child seat equally safe.
A good option for older children, sporty families or anyone who wants an active break from sightseeing.
Sopocki Klub Tenisowy currently has 14 outdoor clay courts plus 4 indoor courts. Summer outdoor rental starts at 80 PLN/h and rackets can be rented for 20 PLN.
Padbox Gdańsk and Gdynia Padel Club both rent courts and equipment. Padel Gdańsk also runs children's groups from age 6 upward.
